McTimoney Chiropractic & Soft Tissue Therapy for Animals

I am a fully qualified and insured McTimoney Animal Chiropractor working in and around West Wales. I specialise in treating musculoskeletal problems in horses, dogs and other animals.

Any animal, from quiet hacking pony to top level competition horse, from family pet to high level competition dog, can suffer from back, neck, pelvic and other musculoskeletal pain, just as humans can. However, animals are far more likely to hide pain due to an innate need to hide any weaknesses from predators or rivals. Therefore, initial signs can be masked or subtle and symptoms can include anything from stiffness or unlevel gait, to loss of performance or reluctance to work, to more drastic behavioural changes such as bucking or rearing and napping etc.

A McTimoney treatment uses highly effective, gentle, animal chiropractic techniques to realign and balance the animals musculoskeletal system, restoring health, movement, soundness and performance. By manipulating any misaligned joints throughout the whole body, with special attention to the spine and pelvis, it allows the nervous system to function optimally and encourages the release of muscular tension. I also use massage, myofascial release (including craniosacral techniques) and infrared therapy to compliment and optimise the McTimoney treatment. I am also qualified as a Applied Herbal Choices (Applied Zoopharmacognosy) consultant, which can be used as a stand alone therapy or alongside bodywork.

McTimoney is a holisitic treatment which means it takes the whole body into account, rather than focusing on one area. It is gentle and non-invasive and is therefore an ethical and respectful way to work with animals; it is readily accepted by most animals and many seem to enjoy it. It is widely used for the treatment of horses and dogs suffering from physical and performance related issues, or simply for ensuring their continued good health.
